Bereavement Ministry

Mission Statement

The mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel ministry to the bereaved is to be a source of love, care, and support to those who grieve the loss through death. We work to reach out to those who experience loss, so they will feel the healing comfort of God through this faith community.

Goal

That each parishioner who has experienced the death of a loved one will feel the love and support of the members of the bereavement ministry and also the prayers of the total parish community.

Objectives

• Pray for the deceased and the family of the deceased.
• Send a Mass card or sympathy card to the next of kin.
• Help prepare the Funeral Liturgy.
• Be present at the Viewing and/or Mass.
• Follow up call or visit.
• Be responsible for the All Soul's Day Liturgy remembering especially those who died during the previous year.
• Have resources available for the grief counseling and location of Support groups.
• Offer a support ministry here at the Parish.
